Here below you can find all master courses the University Centre offers. All courses are taught in 1-3 week modules running from August through June. See how the courses are organised in the teaching schedule for both programs. Usually 2-3 courses are taught at the same time, but students may only enroll in one course at a time.

Master's Thesis
About the course
A 45 ECTS master’s thesis is the final project in the master’s program. It is the product of independent research, must be completed individually under the guidance of an advisor, and can be based on primary and/or secondary data. The overall goal of the final thesis project is to allow students to demonstrate that they are able to employ academic working methods in an independent way. Thesis topics should have a very strong relevance for the interdisciplinary field of coastal and marine management.
Learning outcome
On completion of the course a student:
- has documented and executed their own research in an ethical way that correspond to best practices in the field.
- has developed and lead projects within the field of coastal studies that are rooted in relevant academic theories, policy instruments and/or management tools.
- has acquired knowledge and data through their own desktop-based and/or field-based research.
- has collected, analysed and evaluated data using standard and relevant methodological and analytical approaches.
- has placed and defended their own findings within the existing field of literature.
- has presented data and results in tables and figures in a clear and effective manner.
- has been able to communicate complex academic information, challenges, and findings within the disciplines relevant to the thesis to scholars and to general audiences.
- has been able to make development/management recommendations based on their findings.
