UW student housing was built in 2023 and consists of 40 studio apartments in two buildings at Fjarðarstræti 20.

The buildings are located by the ocean, a 10-minute walk from the University Centre and 3 minutes from a grocery store and the town centre.

Below, you can find information about the two appartment types and the shared facilities. 

 

Studio Apartments

Ground floor apartment

Price: 139.000 ISK/month

Sleeping arrangement: 140 cm wide bed

Private bathroom with a shower: Yes

Small private kitchen area: Yes

Sofa: No

Desk, desk chair and armchair: Yes

Amenities: A lamp, small fridge, electric kettle, wardrobe, duvet, pillow, and bedsheets.

Possibility of renting as a couple: No

Second floor apartment

Price: 139.000 ISK/month

Sleeping arrangement: sleeping loft with a 140 cm matress (ceiling can be high or low)

Private bathroom with a shower: Yes

Small private kitchen area: Yes

Sofa: Yes

Desk, chair and armchair: Yes

Amenities: A lamp, small fridge, electric kettle, wardrobe, duvet, pillow, and bedsheets.

Possibility of renting as a couple: Yes

 

Shared Facilities

Kitchen 

Each wing has access to a shared kitchen for every 10 students, equipped with:

  • Two large refrigerators and two small freezers
  • Two dishwashers
  • Two stove tops and two baking ovens
  • One microwave oven
  • One Toaster
  • One Coffee machine
  • One electric kettle
  • Cutlery and kitchen utensils
  • Large dining table

Laundry room 

 Each building has a shared laundry room for every 20 students that includes:

  • 2 washing machines
  • 2 dryers
  • 2 drying racks

Shared area

Students have acess to a shared area in each wing with a sofa, please note that the image above is from a styled shot, decoration may vary

 

Buildings and Layout

Building A and B

The housing consists of 40 studio apartments across two buildings, A and B, each divided into two wings. Wings within the same building are connected.

Each building includes:

  • A shared laundry room on the ground floor

Each wing includes:

  • 3 studio apartments on the ground floor

  • 7 studio apartments on the second floor (with a sleeping loft)

  • A shared kitchen for every 10 students

Accessibility & Responsibilities

  • Accessible apartments for disabled residents are located on the ground floor

  • Students are responsible for cleaning their own apartments

  • Shared facilities are cleaned according to house rules
