Here below you can find all master courses the University Centre offers. All courses are taught in 1-3 week modules running from August through June. See how the courses are organised in the teaching schedule for both programs. Usually 2-3 courses are taught at the same time, but students may only enroll in one course at a time.

Coastal and Marine Management: Practical Applications and Challenges

About the course
As the final core course in the Marine and Coastal Management Program, this class is fundamentally focused on problem solving and the application of skills and knowledge gained throughout the program. Framed around the goal of building a healthy, well-managed, and equitable future for our oceans, this forward-looking course emphasizes student engagement and an interactive classroom environment. Course work will challenge students to be reflexive, consolidate and apply their learning to date, and find solutions to real-world issues. It will be delivered through a mix of lectures, guest lectures from professionals in the field, class activities, and practical assignments.
Learning outcome
On completion of the course a student:
- is able to place the latest knowledge in context within coastal and marine management, including best available practices and current laws and regulations.
- can apply their knowledge, understanding and proficiency in new and unfamiliar situations or in an interdisciplinary context.
- can integrate knowledge, resolve complex issues and present an opinion based on the available information.
- can communicate complex scientific information, challenges and findings within the field of coastal and marine management to scholars as well as to a general audience.
can present and describe scientific issues and research findings using analytical and methodological terminology.
