In recent years, Icelandic society has changed significantly, and a growing number of people living in Iceland do not have Icelandic as their first language. Icelandic plays an important role in society, and it is therefore essential that people have access to diverse and high-quality studies in Icelandic as a second language.
The Faculty of Icelandic and Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Iceland offers a range of study programmes in Icelandic as a second language, both on campus and through distance learning. The studies are ambitious and require dedication and commitment from students, while also being structured in a way that makes it possible to study part-time alongside work.
From 27 April to 4 May, information sessions will be held on study programmes in Icelandic as a second language at the Faculty of Icelandic and Comparative Cultural Studies, University of Iceland. A total of ten information sessions will be offered, and participants may register for one or more of them. Most of the sessions will take place online via Teams, while two will be held on site.
Sessions held during working hours will take around 30–35 minutes, including questions, while sessions outside regular working hours will take around 45 minutes, including questions. The presentations will be held in Icelandic and English.
The information sessions are intended for anyone interested in learning Icelandic, as well as employers who would like to explore ways to support their staff in acquiring Icelandic and learn more about the study options available.
A special information session will be held at the University Centre of the Westfjords in Ísafjörður on Thursday, 30 April at 17:00.
Here is the registration form, which we kindly ask you to use if you would like to attend one of the sessions.
