Lunch Lecture: A Coastal Mirror: How Icelandic Innovation is Unfolding in Oregon

From regenerative tourism management to innovative product development: when it comes to Blue Economy innovation, the world is looking to Iceland.

In This week Lunch Lecture, we are happy to welcome Lynnee Jacks, an alumna of the University Centre of the Westfjords. In this lecture, she explores how the Oregon Coast is following in Iceland’s footsteps, pioneering initiatives such as 100% utilization of fish and stewardship-driven messaging rooted in the authenticity of people and place.

Drawing on her experience from the Community and Regional Development program at the University Centre of the Westfjords, Lynnee will share her journey from academic theory to practical application in her home state, illustrating how an international story of community development is unfolding in Oregon in ways similar to those seen in the Westfjords.

Lynnee Jacks is a 2023 graduate of the Community and Regional Development program at the University Centre of the Westfjords. As a storyteller and communications professional, her work centers on elevating initiatives that make rural communities more resilient.

As the founder of Sandstone Stories, she consults on projects connecting regional development with the ocean economy in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Following a three-year tenure leading industry communications for the Oregon Coast Visitors Association, she currently leads communications for the Oregon Ocean Cluster in close collaboration with the Iceland Ocean Cluster.

The lunch lecture will be held in english

The presentation will take place in the cafeteria at the University Centre of the Westfjords and will start at 12:10.
