Today at our weekly lunch lecture, we’ll hear from two of our teachers, Sophie Thayne and Mike Thayne, as they share insights into their work—from the Blue Action Fund to Disko Island.

Shopie is a Grant Manager at Blue Action Fund. She previously supported African country teams at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources and began her career with GIZ in the Democratic Republic of Congo, advising on natural resource governance. As an Alumna of the Coastal and Marine Management program (2014-2016), she is very happy to come back to Isafjörður and talk about the organisation she’s been working for the last 3 years.
Mike is from the US and currently a Research Scientist at Helmholtz Centre Potsdam (Germany). He did the CMM program in 2024-2016 and holds a PhD in Freshwater
