Icelandic Courses in Full Swing

The annual Icelandic language courses at the University Centre of the Westfjords are now in full swing, bringing together over 70 participants from all over the world.

Some join more than one course, and others return year after year. The group includes language enthusiasts, newcomers to Iceland, professionals, former residents who want to stay connected to the language, as well as current students at UW and other Icelandic universities.

The courses range from 1 to 3 weeks in length and are divided by level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1/A2, B1, and B2.

Classes are held each morning, while the afternoons are filled with optional sessions that combine cultural experiences with language learning—such as baking pancakes, bingo, grammar games, pronunciation practice, choir, and visits to museums, institutions, and local businesses.

Along with students attending the UW field school, these Icelandic learners ensure that the student housing is full of life all summer long.
