Lunch Lecture: Trauma, what then?

For this week lunch lecture we welcome Dr. Sigrún Sigurðardóttir, who will give a talk on trauma, its consequences, and available resources. In her lecture, she will discuss how trauma can affect people’s lives and what approaches can help individuals work through such experiences.

Alongside her talk, she will introduce her newly published book, Trauma – What Then?, in which she explores these same themes and sheds light on the subject from both an academic perspective and her own viewpoint.

Most of us experience trauma at some point in our lives, but we do not always recognize its effects until later, when physical, psychological, or social symptoms emerge. The lecture offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on this important issue in both an academic and societal context.

Sigrún was born and raised in Ísafjörður. She graduated from Menntaskólinn á Ísafirði (MÍ) in 1988, qualified as a registered nurse from the University of Akureyri (HA) in 2001, completed an MSc in Health Sciences from HA in 2007, and earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Iceland (HÍ) in 2017.

The lunch lecture will be held in icelandic

The presentation will take place in the cafeteria at the University Centre of the Westfjords and will start at 12:10.
