This course provides a "model" of a regional economy by defining the mechanisms underlying the "demand side" and the "supply side" of the economy and exploring how these interact to shape economic activity rates in the short run as well as more complex adjustments and their impacts, such as on competitiveness and trade.

Hæfniviðmið

By the end of the course, students

  • are able to define and discuss economic mechanisms in a regional perspective.
  • are able to identify examples of demand and supply in a regional economical context, as well as examples of adjustments and their impacts.
  • demonstrate ability in reading and writing sections of scientific papers on economical aspects of rural and remote regions and critically review and discuss basic economic subjects in an oral and written form.
