This course covers policy making and the regulatory framework that coastal areas are facing today in an increasingly international setting. The impact of global policies on local environments and regional development will be examined in this course.


On completion of the course, a student:

  • can describe the complexity of regional and rural development in an increasingly global context.
  • can analyse the impact of national and international decisions on rural and/ or remote regions with different methods.
  • can demonstrate critical thinking as well as written and verbal communication skills, through course assignments.
