Innovation and entrepreneurship has become a salient feature of regional development strategies and is often promoted by multinational organisations, such as the EU. This course critically analyses the effectiveness and appropriateness of these approaches in response to challenges facing coastal communities.


Upon completion of this course, students

  • can critically evaluate the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in regional development.
  • will have demonstrated that they can use a set of tools to critically evaluate regional development strategies, and to present and defend their results.
  • will be able to critically analyse the effectiveness and appropriateness of innovation and entrepreneurship as a regional development strategy.
  • will be able to present results and defend them in front of a peer group.
