Requirements for acceptance to courses are generally the same as for acceptance to the master’s program in whole, i.e. that applicants have completed undergraduate studies, regardless of whether BA, BSc, BEd, or other equivalent study.

The master’s committee may decide to accept undergraduate students, who are a long way into their studies, to individual courses. All applications for entry to individual courses must be reviewed by the Master’s program committee and a decision can take up to two weeks.

It is important for applicants to have a good knowledge of English, as all teaching takes place in English.

Find an application form in Word format here.

The application deadline for individual courses is one month before the course begins. Information on individual courses and dates can be found here as well as on the front page of the Open Courses webpage.

Students at universities in the co-operative group of public universities pay according to rules on guest studies, as courses are fully certified by the University of Akureyri.

Erasmus, Nordplus and North to North program applicants also need to apply using the University Centre application form. Fees are in accordance with the relevant program.

Fees for others are ISK 10,000 per ECTS unit (so a 4 ECTS course would therefore cost ISK 40,000).
