Would you like to host an SIT student next summer?
In June, the University Centre will welcome a field school group from the School for International Training (SIT) from Vermont, USA. The SIT groups have become regular guests in Ísafjörður, this being the seventh to visit us. These students come to Iceland for the summer-long course Renewable Energy, Technology, and Resource Economics in Iceland, which takes place mainly in Reykjavik and here in the NW Westfjords.
The students get an introduced to the native language and culture and they have the opportunity to stay with an Icelandic family, which enables them to practice speaking Icelandic and also help them appreciate the culture. Last year the participating families as well as the students were very happy with this experience, as this story shows: 'Hosting a foreign student a rewarding experience'

The University Centre is now working on finding families for this summer‘s SIT students. More information available in Icelandic.
