Next summer the University Centre will welcome a field school group from the School for International Training (SIT) from Vermont, USA. The SIT students have become regular guests in Ísafjörður, this being the sixth group to visit us. These students come to Iceland for the summer-long course Renewable Energy, Technology, and Resource Economics in Iceland, which takes place in Reykjavik and Ísafjörður. The students also are introduced to the native language and culture and they have the opportunity to live with an Icelandic family to enable them to practice speaking Icelandic and help them appreciate the culture. For the past years hosting has been provided by families in Akureyri, but from next summer homestay will take place here in Ísafjörður and the UW now looks for host families.
