University Centre hosts student group from SIT

Today, July 1, a student group from the School for International Training (SIT) in Vermont, USA arrived in Ísafjörður. They are here to participate in the summer course, Renewable Energy, Technology, and Resource Economics in Iceland, given at RES, the School for Renewable Energy Science in Akureyri, in Reykjavik and here in Ísafjörður. This is the third year in a row that we have hosted a group of students from SIT in the Westfjords. Dave Timmons, Academic Director, is here accompanying the group and they are further assisted by Caitlin Wilson, Project Manager with RES.

The students will get an introduction to the activities of the Westfjords‘ Energy Company, they will have lectures at the University Centre, go on field trips and also get an introduction to the history and culture of the region. They will also engage in small-scale research projects. We have several local people as well as insitutions assisting the students in their projects.

On July 10  there will be a public presentation here at the University Centre of these student projects. Timing will be announced later.
