UW program director publishes article in fisheries management in Iceland

Our program director, Dr. Catherine Chambers, has recently published an article in the journal Coastal Management on the inclusion of social science in fisheries decision-making processes in Iceland. Through her research, Catherine explored the perceptions of small boat fishermen and rural communities regarding the fisheries management system.

This article is a viewpoint written with her colleague Mattias Kokorsch from the University of Iceland, who conducts research on coastal communities and regional development. The article reviews non-economic social science research in Iceland focused on fisheries management, and describes a path forward for truly sustainable fisheries management that includes consideration from research conducted from the wide range of social sciences. You can view the article here.
