Two Electives: Maritime Transport and Fishing Technology

This week a new three week module in the Coastal and Marine Management program began with two elective courses: Maritime Transport and Fishing Technology.

The Fishing Technology course is taught by Einar Hreinsson a lecturer at the University of Akureyri and scientist at the Marine Research Institute of Iceland. Einar lives and works in Ísafjörður and has been involved in the Coastal and Marine Management program from the beginning, he sits on the masters program committee and has taught this course from the beginning of the program.

The course Maritime Transport is taught by a new member of our instructors team Dr. Miaoija Liu. She obtained her doctoral degree from Kobe University (Japan) in 2006 and her PhD study focused on "The competitive Situations in Container Transport Market". Previously Dr. Liu has worked as an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Maritime Economics and Logistics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Recently she was hired as a Chief Education Officer at BIMCO (Baltic and International Maritime Council) where she will start working in May 2011.
