Tourism Policy and Planning in Coastal Areas

At this point many of the students in the Coastal and Marine Management masters program have completed their course work and begun working on their thesis. However one additional elective course remains.

The course, entitled Tourism Policy and Planning in the Coastal Areas, began this week and is taught by Professor Marc L. Miller from Washington University, US. Professor Miller is returning to Ísafjörður for the third year to teach at the University Centre. Tourism Policy and Planning in Coastal Areas examines the ways in which tourism and recreation in the coastal zone links people to one another and to the environment. The course is designed to be of intellectual and practical value to students who have academic interest ranging from marine affairs, environmental studies, ocean and fishery sciences, the social sciences, to the arts and humanities.
