Thirteen CMM Students Graduate from the Coastal and Marine Management program
On June 17, Iceland's National Day, a University Festival was held at Hrafnseyri to celebrate the graduation of students from the Coastal and Marine Management master's program. After the graduation a ceremony was held at Hrafnseyri to celebrate the bicentenary of Jón Sigurðsson, the leader of Iceland's struggle for independence. This is the second time that the graduation is held in Hrafnseyri in connection with the National Day celebrations at Hrafnseyri and the second time that students graduate from the Coastal and Marine Management program.
The degree is accredited by the University of Akureyri and students graduate with a Master of Resource Management degree from UA. The rector of UA, Stefán B. Sigurðsson, delivered the diploma to the students and addressed the assembly.
Peter Weiss, director of the University Centre also addressed the assembly and directed his speech to the graduates with emphasis on how their education will benefit them in the future. On behalf of faculty members Professor Gabriela Sabau and Professor Marc L. Miller gave a short speech as well as students Alan Deverell, Etienne Gernez and Petra Granholm.
