The “Education for sustainability“ workshop a success
Today, June 11, about 50 primary- and elementary school teachers in the Westfjords finished a workshop that was designed and managed by the University Centre's CMM students. The workshop was named "Education for sustainability" and introduced sustainability and ways to integrate sustainability into all teaching. Special emphasis was on food, energy, and waste, but also sustainability in general with the assistance of Kristín Vala Ragnarsdóttir, dean of the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the University of Iceland. Following the lectures yesterday morning the participants were split up in groups that worked on ideas and projects for teaching.
The workshop was considered to be a success and gave participants many ideas to use when preparing for the next school year.
