On Sunday the 31st of September at 16.00 PM the Minister of Education Mrs Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir will formally launch the new masters program in Coastal and Marine Management at the University Centre of theWestfjords. This marks a milestone in the activity of the University Centre of the Westfjords, since this is the first time that a whole programme is taught from beginning to end in the region.

Along with the launch of the masters program, a symposium on sustainable uses of Icelandic coastal zones will be held. The symposium will be opened by the minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Mr. Einar K. Guðfinnsson at 13.00 PM on Sunday and continue on Monday from 8.30 AM to 12.30 PM.
