Sun Pancakes

Yesterday students, instructors and staff members of the University Centre celebrated the day when the sun rays reach the street Sólgata (Sun Street), given that the weather allows. This is an old tradition that has been upheld for more than a 100 years by people in Ísafjörður. The traditional sun- day is January 25, but as the sun reaches different homes at different times, people celebrate at home by inviting friends and family over for sun-coffee and sun pancakes with cream, depending on when the sun reaches their window for the first time in January.

Students and staff members enjoyed delicious pancakes with cream and jam to celebrate the first sun rays that reach the town of Ísafjörður in January.
