Summer School in Coastal and Heritage Tourism

Last weekend the University Centre's and Hrafnseyri-museum's summer school on Coastal and Heritage-Tourism ended. The instructors were Valdimar J Halldórsson, anthropologist and director of the Museum of Jón Sigurðsson in Hrafnseyri as well as Marc L Miller, professor in the School of Marine Studies, University of Washington, Seattle. The programme was multi-faceted, including lectures on coastal tourism and heritage tourism as well as lots of discussion. Additionally, the group went by boat over the Arnarfjord to Bíldudal, visited the pop music museum Melódíur Minninganna and the Monster Museum and received there a delicious meal.

On the way back, the captain, Jón Þórðarson, took the bait and landed the group at Selagat-rock, where it is only possible to land in very calm weather.
