Speed-Icelandic course at Dokkan

The Speed-Icelandic event for students just finishing the 3 week A1-A2 Icelandic course took place at Dokkan, the local brewery on August 17th. At the event, which was inspired by the concept of speed-dating, the students could practise speaking with locals, or people who speak good Icelandic, while constantly rotating seats with a 3 minute interval.

Ólafur Guðsteinn Kristjánsson, the supervisor of Icelandic courses offered at the University Centre, explained that he got the idea for the event when one of his students mentioned that they were going on a speed-date. Ólafur then thought, why not host a speed-date for students learning Icelandic.

With a good attendance and atmosphere, the event met all expectations. This is the second time this event is being held and hopefully it is here to stay.
