In this week Lunch Lecture, Friday 8th., will Dr. Gudmundur Halfdanarson, professor at the University of Iceland will give a presentation called, „Shall we never depart“? Jón Sigurðsson and the present.

In the lecture, Guðmundur will talk out from the mottoes that are often associated with the name of Jon Sigurdsson („Never depart“) and discuss briefly the political strategies Jon used and what can be learned from it in our time.

Guðmundur Halfdanarson holds a BA degree in History from the University of Iceland and Lund, and Masters and PhD degree from Cornell University. Gudmundur is a professor associated with the name of Jon Sigurdsson at the University of Iceland.

Lunch Lecture will start at 12:10 in the University Centre cafeteria. The talk will be in Icelandic.
