SIT student project presentations at the University Centre July 10

A group of students from the School for International Training (SIT) for Vermont, USA, are being hosted by the University Centre of the Westfjords and taking the course Renewable Energy, Technology, and Resource Economics in Iceland, given in cooperation by RES Orkuskóla Akureyri, Reykjavik and Ísafjörður.

These students are being taught about renewable energy by employees of Orkubús Vestfjarða, participating in field trips and learning about the history and culture of the area. They also attended the viking festival in Dýrafjörð.

The students all complete mini research projects on fx hydropower, windpower or energy conservation and are being assisted by various offices, including the Avalanche Institute and individuals in the area. On Friday, July 10, there will be an open teaching session at the University Centre where the studens will be presenting their research projects. The presentations will begin at 1pm and anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend. We also would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has assisted the students during their stay in Ísafjörður.
