Productive Seminar on Sea Angling Tourism

Saturday‘s seminar on Sea Angling Tourism in Northern-Norway and the Westfjords of Iceland turned out to be a useful platform for discussions between stakeholders in the field and academics. The seminar was held by the University Centre of the Westfjords in cooperation with the Arctic Studies Program.

With seven lecturers contributing to the program the seminar ranged from studies on catch-and-release methods and the quality of the raw material from sea angling to the economical and social impact of sea angling tourism both in Iceland and Norway.

Two specialists from Norway, Trude Borch and Keno Ferter, gave lectures on their researches in the field of sea angling and five Icelanders addressed the topic of the seminar from a Westfjords‘ standpoint.

It is safe to conclude from the different lectures that sea angling in the Westfjords has developed into real business and that it has the potential of growing bigger in harmony with the community if the right measures are taken towards serving the demands of the costumers.

Here are a few photos taken during the seminar.
