One Week Crash Course Concludes

Today was the last day of the one week spring Crash Course that began on Monday morning. The course is rather small this time around with five enthusiastic students from the United States, France and Germany. The students have dived into the language learning from dawn to dusk and have made good progress in the language learning process. Hopefully they will be able to build on this jump start in the language on their own in the near future.

As previous years we have tried our best to have the learning process of the course as diverse as possible. During the mornings the students have mostly been in formal classroom teaching with Icelandic teacher Ólöf Bergmannsdóttir. In the afternoons students break away from the formal teaching with courses on certain topics such as first aid, pronunciation, necrologies and shopping rally. The Shopping is a sort of a final exam since students need to apply what they have learned in the local shops in town. We would like to extend our gratitude to the sales clerks of the shops for their assistance with the Icelandic teaching. Once again we see that in fact the whole town of Ísafjörður is our classroom.

In August we have more Icelandic Courses coming up. Two three-week beginners’ courses will be offered, Beginners A1-A2 Núpur and Beginners A1-A2 Ísafjörður in addition to a one week Crash Course. We will also offer a two week Intermediate course and a one week course for more advanced students called Advanced Special.

All further information about the Icelandic Courses is available on the Icelandic Courses webpage.
