New Project Manager
Sigþrúður Margrét Gunnsteinsdóttir has been hired as a Project Manager at the University Centre of the Westfjords in a 50% position.
The past few years Sigþrúður has been working at elementary schools and taken part in various development projects within the schools.
Sigþrúður, or Sissú, as she better known as, has completed a Masters of Teaching degree from the University of Iceland and is currently studying Cultural Management at the masters level at the University of Bifröst. She also holds a B.Ed degree in teaching.
Sigþrúður is well connected within the community in the northern part of the Westfjords. She has taught at the elementary schools both in Ísafjörður and Bolungarvík and is a board member of the Hvöt Women’s Association and the National Costume Association of the Westfjords.
The Project Manager will have multiple duties at the University Centre. Among larger tasks this coming spring is the overall management of a conference which is planned along with tasks such as arranging field trips and company visits for the masters’ programs as well as organizing the Lunch Lecture series.
Pernilla Rein, who has been in the role of Project Manager at the University Centre for nearly 14 years, will leave the job at the end of the year. Pernilla has been working at Menntaskólinn á Ísafirði the local high school along with her job at UW but will now move entirely to MÍ. The University Centre would like to use the opportunity and thank Pernilla for her work at UW through the years.
