Meeting of European Specialists in Aquaculture Teaching
Aqua-TNet's work group on enhancing master's level teaching in aquaculture will have its work meeting in the Westfjords of Iceland in May. Aqua-TNet is a thematic network on aquaculture, fisheries and aquatic resources management with 120 partners from 25 European countries. The network is presently funded under the European Commission Lifelong Learning Programme, running from 2008-2011. Amongst the Icelandic members, in addition to the University Centre of the Westfjords, are Hólar University College and Matís - Icelandic Food and Biotech R&D.
The work group on enhancing teaching in aquaculture has 25 participants, out of which 14 will attend the meeting in the Westfjords. The choice for a meeting place this spring came down to two options, a meeting in Greece in April or in the Westfjords in May, and the majority of the work group voted for the Westfjords. The meeting will be hosted by the University Centre of the Westfjords and staff members here are happy to welcome the group to the Westfjords. In addition to the actual meetings some field trips to local aquaculture stations and fisheries are on the agenda during the group´s stay in the Westfjords.
