Marine Innovation Agreement Signed
At the annual general meeting of the University Centre of the Westfjords a new cooperation agreement for the master's program in Coastal and Marine Management was signed between the University Centre and the University of Akureyri. This new agreement also entails a cooperation between the two institutions regarding a new master's program in Marine Innovation.
Marine Innovation is a professional master's program offered in cooperation with UA and the Innovation Centre Iceland. The program is designed for students to learn to create a job instead of taking one. Therefore the programs emphasis is on giving students an insight into the nature and conditions of starting and running an innovative micro-business as well as coastal and marine issues. The program is individually structured an each student designs an tailor made plan of study, combining courses in their professional field and business management courses with the respective innovative project.
Due to the individually structured nature of the program the number of students is limited to five students. A variety of courses are on offer, especially courses from the Coastal and Marine Management program but also through the network of the public Icelandic Universities.
The master's program in Marine Innovation is open for applications. All further information about the program can be found on its webpage.
