Lunch Lecture: The unique position of the primary school in Þingeyri

Stefanía Ásmundsdóttir, headmistress at the school in Þingeyri, is guest speaker at the University Centre of the Westfjords’ open ‘Vísindaport’ lunch lecture on 6th March, and will talk about her school’s unique situation.

 

The primary school in Þingeyri is a small school which is running many interesting projects. School development is an important ongoing task and some developments embraced by the elementary school in Þingeyri include: tablet computers for school work, open schooling, pupil development planning and peer teaching. The primary school in Þingeyri emphasises the value of respect, accountability, cohesion and joy.

 

The lunch lecture will cover all the above points, as well as discussing several other aspects of successful school management.

 

Stefanía Ásmundsdóttir, head of the primary school in Þingeyri, is a trained social worker and teacher and has completed 90 ECTS in childcare and education studies. Stefanía lives and works in Þingeyri and has done so for the last two school years. 

The Lunch Lecture will be in Icelandic, it begins at 12.10 in the University Centre cafeteria. The lecture is open to all.
