Lunch Lecture: Focus Westfjords
During the lecture, Matt Willen will overview the project, its origins, what it is about and what they are trying to do with it. Matt and Ágúst hope that the talk will give them an opportunity to get input from the audience on what is interesting, and what might be useful to look at and explore. They will also present show some photographs from the project.
Further information about the project can be found on its website focuswestfjords.com
The talk will be in English and will be held in the cafeteria of the University Centre. It starts at 12.10 and is open to all who are interested.
Ágúst Atlason has lived in the Westfjords for most of his life. Passionate about his home turf, he has been photographing the Westfjords for 3 years. He works as a multimedia designer in the computer company Snerpa in Ísafjörður, specializing in web design. He hopes this project will benefit the Westfjords and tell a unique story from a very small and remote part of the world.
Matt Willen is a professor in the English Department at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, in the US. He teaches courses in non-fiction writing and publication design. He is on sabbatical from teaching until September 2010 to work on this project.
