Guest Students from the AUI participated in Maritime Anthropology course
Last week we welcomed four guest students from the new Nordic master’s program in Environmental Changes at Higher Latitudes, partly taught at Agricultural University of Iceland. The four students took part in the course Maritime Anthropology, which is one of the elective courses on offer for our master’s programs in Coastal and Marine Management and Coastal Communities and Regional Development.
Due to COVID restrictions, the course was offered as a mix of online teaching and in-person discussions with the instructor and small groups. “This teaching-organization still allowed students to engage in conversations and be more active in the course than would have been possible with only online access,” said Isabel C. Barrio, program director at AUI, who accompanied the group to Ísafjörður. “It was a great opportunity for us to learn more about the two Coastal Studies masters programs offered at the University Centre of the Westfjords, and it was a fantastic opportunity to visit Ísafjörður. Hopefully we can have more exchange between programs in the future!”
We can most certainly second that! We are certain that this experience has open many cooperative opportunities between UW and AUI.
