Farmers can more than farming

On Wednesday, 18.02.2015, 14-16, Barbara Turk, teacher at higher vocational school Grm Novo mesto – center biotehnike in turizma will give a lecture on marketing of products and services traditional farms can offer to tourists.

During the last decades farmers are widely facing lower prices of primary products and lower income. Therefore they are forced to be innovative in processing those primary products. But the processing is most of the time easy. More difficult is it to sell the products. And that is the great challenge. Luckily tourists often buy things they don’t need, but are a souvenir about their holiday. And they also spend more money on those souvenirs. But what will they buy? We will try to answer this question.

Barbara Turk is a lecturer on higher vocational school Grm Novo mesto – center biotehnike in turizma and on Landscape Governance College Grm Novo mesto. She also coordinates practical education on higher vocational school for the programme Environmental care. As a part of her lectures she tries to encourage all of her students to develop new ideas for their processing of primary products or to launch new services on their farms. The end of the practical education and a part of her lectures is seminar work ‘’Working place I made for myself’’.

Barbara Turk talks about selling management and will give some idea and examples of best practice of processing primary products on farms and also some examples of services farmers can offer to tourists.
