Fab Lab Introduction
In the Lunch Lectur, Friday April 15, Sigríður Kristjánsdóttir a project manager at the Innovation Centre Iceland in Ísafjörður will give a talk on a project called Fab Lab (Fabrication Laboratory). The Innovation Centre in collaboration with the Ísafjörður High School is planning on setting up such a lab in Ísafjörður. The Lunch Lecture will be in Icleandic, it takes place at the University Centre cafeteria and begins at 12.10. It is open to the public.
A Fab Lab (fabrication laboratory) is a small-scale workshop with an array of computer controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make "almost anything". This includes technology-enabled products generally perceived as limited to mass production.
The Fab Lab network is a global network of Fab Labs with people working together from all over the world are using the labs to create and develop their ideas and solutions. There are around 40 labs in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa.
