Coastal and Marine Management student Brian Gerrity is currently working on his master’s thesis on solutions to fight coastal erosion in his home town of Half Moon Bay in California. Brian will submit his thesis early this year and defend it soon after that. Although not completed yet his work has already raised attention in the community at Half Moon Bay. Last week the local paper Half Moon Bay Review did a piece on his work and the coastal erosion problems that threaten the area.

Brian’s work is a good example about how student thesis research work can have an impact on problems that are being dealt with in coastal communities and coastal environments.

Next month Brian and other students from the 2015 cohort of students will defend their theses. More news about each defense will be posted here on the website when the events draw near.
