Call for papers for a Conference on the Cruise Ship industry in Iceland
The University Centre of the Westfjords is now preparing an interesting conference that will take place in Edinborgarhúsið in Ísafjörður April 3rd-4th 2017. There, speakers and other participants will try to shed light on the question „Where is the cruise ship industry in Iceland heading?“ The industry is one of many fast growing branches within Icelandic tourism and the harbor of Ísafjörður is the third largest host of cruise ships in the country, following Akureyri second and Reykjavík first.
At the conference scholars, institutions, politicians, tourist companies and local people will bring their views to the table and discuss the next steps that should be taken with sustainability in mind.
We are now calling for papers. Those interested in participating with a lecture please send an abstract to Birna Lárusdóttir, birna@uw.is project manager at the UW Centre no later than January 15th 2017. Each lecture is about 20 minutes in length and the abstract should be no longer than 200 words. Further information can be obtained with Birna at the same e-mail or mobile 896-3367.
