The group´s next stop was Bernskan Ltd, a company that produces so-called bagbait, mainly from mackerel, for line boats. Sveinbjörn Jónsson, manager, showed and explained the product run to the students, who found the visit very interesting. The product is unique, Bernskan being the only company in the world to produce bagbait.

The last visit was to the pet food producer, Murr Ltd. At Murr only domestic raw material such as pigs liver and hearts are turned into pet food, and Sigurdís Samúelsdóttir foreman showed the students around and explained various aspects of the processing.

[mynd 3 v]The visit to these two Súðavík companies as well as the Arcitc Fox Centre clearly shows how varied the local economy is, a community with approximately 200 inhabitants, and this is something that the students found quite remarkable.
Finally we would like thank all the involved parties who welcomed the student group during this field trip.
