Between Seaside and Mountains Tourism in Italy

On Friday September 5 Luca Zarrilli, an Associate Professor at the University “G. D’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara Italy, will give a talk on new trends in Italian Tourism and the Abruzzo region with a focus on its double coastal and mountain identity. The talk will be in English and begins at 16:00 in room 1 at the University Centre. Talk is open to the public.

Description:
The lecture will be divided in two parts. In the first part ("New trends in Italian Tourism") the general features of Italian tourism - in terms of flows, typologies, organization, new trends - will be outlined. The second part ("Tourism in Abruzzo: between Seaside and Mountains") wll focus on Abruzzo region, and in particular on its double - coastal and mountain - identity, and on the related tourist dynamics.

Luca Zarrilli is Associate professor of Geography of Tourism at University "D'Annunzio" in Pescara, Italy. His research area deals with the relationship between natural landascape and development. In his recent book "Lifescapes" (2007) Luca Zarrilli explores the connections between cultural identity and territory development in some European areas, including Iceland. Luca Zarrilli is visiting Iceland via the Erasmus program.
