Archeological excavations at Skriðuklaustur

In this Fridays Lunch Lecture, University of Iceland scholar Steinunn J. Kristjánsdóttir will discuss the excavation on Skriðuklaustur/Eastern Iceland.

Steinunn will read from her new book about the excavation at Skriðuklaustur and talk about events that occurred during the excavation. At Skriðuklaustur there was a monastery with hospital-related activities since the end of the fifteenth century until the Reformation in 1550. The excavation found the monastery buildings that had been lost for centuries.

Steinunn J. Kristjánsdóttir is a associate professor at the University of Iceland. She studied at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and graduated with Fil.kand. degree 1993, Fil.mag degree 1994 and Fil.dr. degree in archaeology in 2004.

Lunch Lectures are open for the public, they start at 12:10 and are held in the University Centre cafeteria. The talk will be in Icelandic.
