A new office by UNAK in the Westfjords
As of tomorrow, the University of Akureyri will have a permanent work station at UW, an office located on 1st floor which teachers and other staff of UNAK can use while staying in Ísafjörður for a short or long time.
This will come in handy as there's already so much collaboration between UNAK and UW and it will be good for the staff of both insitutes to meet face to face, even though technology makes remote collaboration pretty easy. Two staff members of UNAK inaugurated the office already at the beginning of the week, Hildur Friðriksdóttir, International Coordinator, and Bára Sif Sigurjónsdóttir, Director of Student Registration. It was great timing as UW opens for applications tomorrow and our Administrative Director, Astrid, was able to sit down with them and prepare for that.
Hildur and Bára said they enjoyed staying in Ísafjörður and will definitely come again and use the office, but that they'll bring some more decor then to make the office a bit more inviting. They were able to attend the symposium that the Grimsson Center held at UW on Monday and said they saw a lot of potential in occasionally working on projects in Ísafjörður and make use of the academic environment here.
The rector of the University of Akureyri, Eyjólfur Guðmundsson rektor, also participated in the symposium and he and Peter Weiss, director at UW, took the opportunity to sign the contract between UW and UNAK.
