Seagirls

The SeaGirls project gave girls in Iceland cameras for the summer to understand their relationships and experiences with the ocean. The aim of this project is to create momentum for future research and community activities related to youth, gender, and relationships to the ocean. The role of women in maritime sectors has been ignored in history but is crucial from an economic and social point of view. Gender equality in the ocean-industries is an important conversation to start at a young age, and many international sustainable development plans highlight the importance of youth and female involvement in ocean sustainability.
