The University Centre of the Westfjords partly administers three funds on behalf of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Social Security. In 2008 the University Cente agreed to administer the Development Fund for Immigration Issues, and in 2010 the Ministry made a deal with the UW of administering two more funds. One was launched on the occasion of the 2010 European Year For Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion and the other is the so-called Welfare Watch counterbalance fund.
