COVID-19 Future Students Information

We are aware that many applicants are experiencing difficulties in obtaining necessary documents for their application due to COVID-19 restrictions around the world. During the upcoming admission cycle we will therefore show as much flexibility as possible while still upholding quality in the admission process. We will open up for applications on November 1, 2020.

Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions concerning how COVID-19 affects admission at the University Centre of the Westfjords. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns:

Normal application deadlines apply for the intake of students for the academic year 2021-2022, until further notice. These deadlines are February 15 for citizens from countries outside the EU/EEA area and April 15 for citizens from countries within the EU/EEA.

A second application deadline for EU/EEA citizens, June 5, depending on availability.

If you are experiencing significant delays due to restrictions related to COVID-19, please contact us regarding these matters directly at See also the section below on this matter.

We have made all necessary arrangements so that the processing of applications will not be delayed.

We understand that obtaining official transcripts from former institutions may be difficult due to restrictions related to COVID-19. If you are experiencing significant delays, please send in your online application form and continue working on securing the documents  required for us to assess your application. The University Centre will be flexible with deadlines for document requirements – we will continue to work with applicants individually and make accommodations based on their circumstances. We understand that in many countries the majority of language testing facilities have been closed.

If you are not able to provide us with a recognized proficiency test, we will still assess your application for admission, pending that you provide a sufficient test prior to the program start in late August.

Please read more about the language requirements on the Application webpage for either Coastal and Marine Management or Coastal Communities and Regional Development.

Please also check if you are able to take online tests such as TOEFL in your area.
