International CoastGIS Organising Committee - Chairman’s Welcome
As Chairman of the International CoastGIS Organising Committee, I would very much like to extend a warm welcome to the CoastGIS 2018 Symposium and Exhibition which will be hosted in Iceland between the 27th and 28th September 2018 and extending to the 29th for delegates wishing to remain for a scheduled field excursion.
Hosted in 2018 by the University Centre of the Westfjords at Ísafjörður/Westfjords in Iceland and organised by the Local CoastGIS Organiser and Committee, CoastGIS 2018 will once again provide a unique opportunity to communicate the results of a wide range of innovative scientific research into both coastal and marine applications of the geospatial technologies, including remote sensing, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), databases, data models, the Internet and online mapping systems.
The theme for CoastGIS 2018 is: Spatial Planning and Climate Change
As an established major international coastal and marine event, CoastGIS attracts delegates and an audience from around the globe including coastal researchers, managers, and practitioners who use one or more of the geospatial technologies in their work.
On behalf of both the International CoastGIS Committee and the Local CoastGIS Organiser and Committee, I look forward very much to welcoming you all to Iceland and to your participation in this important international event.
