A New Peer-Reviewed Journal on Icelandic Society

The Icelandic Sociologist Society announces the publication of a new peer reviewed journal, Íslenska þjóðfélagið. The Journal is published in an open access on the Internet. Further information available on our Icelandic.

No Lunch Lectures the next two weeks

This week, and the next students that are graduating from the Coastal and Marine Management program at the University Centre of the Westfjords will present and defend their master's theses. One presentation has already been held and on Friday January 28 the first defense will be held. Next week from Thursday to Tuesday, two defenses and two presentations will also be held. Due to this the Lunch Lectures on Friday January 28 and Friday February 4 will be postponed.

Accommodation for summer schools 2011

The University Centre of the Westfjords seeks accommodation for 80 students that will attend a three week Icelandic course in August 2011. Further information available in Icelandic.

Accommodation Needed

Three exchange students from the Netherlands are looking for accommodation in Ísafjörður. The students will start their studies February 14 and complete it July 1. The students would like to live together so they are looking for an apartment or housing with three bedrooms and with furniture.

The Shell: Artist's and Scholar's residency in the Westfjords

The Icelandic Centre for Ethnology and Folklore offers an artist's and scholar's residency in the Strandir region of Iceland this winter. The Shell, as it is called, is a beautiful and newly renovated house in the village of Hólmavík. Scholars and artists can apply for stays ranging from a week to a month in the period of November 1st 2010 to May 1st 2011.
