The Shell: Artist's and Scholar's residency in the Westfjords
The Icelandic Centre for Ethnology and Folklore offers an artist's and scholar's residency in the Strandir region of Iceland this winter. The Shell, as it is called, is a beautiful and newly renovated house in the village of Hólmavík. Scholars and artists can apply for stays ranging from a week to a month in the period of November 1st 2010 to May 1st 2011. While the residency is normally free of charge, near the end of their stay, guests are required to present an event such as an exhibition or open talk; concert or short course; or other events agreed upon with ICEF. The project is done in collaboration with the Hólmakaffi café and is supported by the Strandabyggð municipality.
Photos and information may by be found on ICEF's website and on its Facebook page.
Applications with CVs may be sent to katla@icef.is . While applications are welcome all year round the residency will likely be fully booked in mid November.
