Plug-in electric vehicles
On Monday August 18 Dr. John Axsen gives an open lecture at the University Centre of the Westfjords on plug-in electric vehicles and their potential.
"Plug-in electric vehicles: Matching low-carbon technology to people and policy"
Description: For decades, the promise of electric-powered vehicles has inspired hope for a clean, low-carbon, petroleum-free transportation system. So where are these electric vehicles? Dr. Jonn Axsen draws from in-depth market and technical research to explore society's readiness for such a transition -- and outline the policies required to get there.
Bio: "Dr. Jonn Axsen is assistant professor in sustainable energy at Simon Fraser University. He studies the market potential for alternative-fuel technologies, such as electric vehicles, and potential uptake of pro-environmental behaviour. He uses surveys, interviews and quantitative models to investigate the nexus of technology, environmental policy, and consumer behaviour. Jonn’s study of social influence and consumer valuation of plug-in electric vehicles has earned him recognition as the “2011 Young Researcher of the Year” by the OECD’s International Transport Forum."
