Master´s project/thesis grant in alternative energy utilization in the Westfjords.
Atvest (The Westfjords Business Development Agency) is interested in investigating in a formal manner the opportunities which might exist for alternative energy utilization in the Westfjords. Atvest and its special developing project VaxVest, is willing to sponsor a Master Student (ISK 200.000)- to conduct a study on the pros and cons of utilizing ocean currents as a means of creating energy.
Introduction:
The discussion on alternative sources of energy is growing around the world. Conditions in the Westfjords are characterized by large fjords, which in many cases have been semi-closed or crossed by roads and bridges. Such constrictions (Þveranir) create a high current through the crossing, a current which, by many, is considered to be an obvious source of energy.
Requirements and application:
- Students must send a formal application with student's CV and a letter stating your interests and reasons for applying for this project (1-2 pages). Please send your application to thorp@atvest.is and shiran@atvest.is
- The due date for applications is 02.03. 2009
- The project is thought as 30 ECTS and students must work on it during 2009. Final report/thesis is expect to be finished by 01.01.2010.
- The grant doesn't exclude other scholarships and grants that the student might get.
